Reinstating Disability Benefits

A bank closed the account of a man who has severe anxiety, crowd-phobia, and additional disorders because of a debt owed by his mother. This prevented the man from receiving his disability payments, making automatic payments for living expenses, and accessing his money. Unable to meet his financial obligations and in desperate need of help, the man attended a CPLP monthly clinic where he was paired with a volunteer attorney. After the attorney contacted the bank on the client’s behalf, the error was rectified and he regained access to his disability payments and the full balance of his account.
